Dimitar Poposki was born in Prilep in 1974. Information professional currently working at the "Blaze Koneski" Faculty of Philology in Skopje, Macedonia. He has substantial library and public administration experience. From 2004 until 2008 he focused mainly on digitization and Optical character recognition, as a result of the one year US Department of State scholarship in Library and Information Science conducted at Rutgers University. Since 2006, he has actively participated and presented his research at 38 International Library and Information Science conferences (USA, EU, SEEurope). He hosted workshops, trainings, lectures and consultation services on advanced web searching, optical character recognition, digitization, newspaper and historical archives, computer assisted translation, open access/ open educational resources, academic/scientific publishing at the Faculty of Philology "Blaze Koneski", National and University Library "St. Kliment Ohridski" (Skopje, Macedonia), Department for Slavic Languages at the Karl Franzens University (Graz, Austria), Macedonian Academy of Science and Art (Centre for Areal Linguistics), United Nations - International Atomic Energy Agency - International Nuclear Information Systems (Vienna, Austria), Scholarly Communication Centre at Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA), Mikrosam company (A high tech industry robot factory). Taking part of the Open Access advocacy movement he organized and presented Open Access Week events since 2010. Supporter of open education/open science/open (government) data movement. Since 2008 he is taking part of PhD information science studies at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences, Department of Information and Communication Science. His professional interests are focused on digitization of cultural heritage, information/knowledge management, scientific repositories, academic publishing, open access/open educational resources.
